Final Weekly Post #8: My school semester

Hey guys! This is my last post on this website, it’s been quite a semester and I wish to make it about how much we’ve went through and wishing you all good luck. Now.. this semester has quite something, from hard works that take days to finish, the crisis of the early decade from the possibility of World War and now with the ever apparent pandemic of the Covid-19 virus plaguing the world. Even so, it’s been a fun experience overall to learn about the basics of Psychology as it is my bachelors degree, learning the basics of French to learn more about other languages, having Social Sciences and Humanities teach me about the reality of the world and ideals that could plague or save it and finally this class, Technology (Informatica) as it taught be the wonders of the internet, how you can spread out information to the internet and to be wary of it’s many issues. Overall it’s been a good second semester and I do hope I’m able to get semesters as decent as this one for the ones to come! Now please, do me a favor and enjoy your day/night/evening and have a lovely summer!

Work Post: Final Review

Hey there viewer! Man, it’s been quite the semester hasn’t it? 5 full months of work, sweat and a lot of random postings all around. Well.. I suppose this and another few more posts will be the last of what this website will provide, thank you for all that’s been provided for this place, it was a nice experience and fun as hell to try! Now then..

Review of the course and my autoevaluation

-Informatica 103 has been an interesting course for me to try out, as its implication to be able to create and innovate your own website to share things that you want to show the world was a nice experience overall. The professor was also a big help in the progress on how to full achieve a well done website, programs to use to be able to make full use of the internet and it’s wonders such as Diigo for Bookmarking to Feedly to archive links and articles one can use for later works.

-The two of my favorite and most interesting concepts that we taught about in this course was the usage of WordPress to create a website, which you can see now as you’re reading this, as it helped me see how one can create their own step into the virtual world with ease; along with the discussion over the lack of privacy present on the internet and how we should be careful when surfing across the internet as it is an important thing to keep in mind.

-In terms of changing anything to do with the course would probably be how it does require the use of some social media outlets such as Instagram and Twitter, since at the beginning of the course I didn’t use any of these two formats. I’m not saying you shouldn’t use these formats whatsoever but to simply try to expand the threshold when it comes to social media outlets, perhaps opening to more social media options when it comes to looking up certain information and posts about the subject being given.

Final Project Post #2: Presentation and a wrap up!

Welcome welcome! This post is made to be able to share the group effort of my team while working on the last project for the class of Informatica 103, which was about 3D printing and it’s usefulness to the world at large!

3D Printing (Brief review)

-3D Printing is a currently expanding practice of technology that uses a strong material in order to process and create a 3D model of an object. This practice has seen its growth in popularity due to how resourceful and how much variety it has when it comes to constructing objects through this process. As it grows even more, methods have been discovered in order to expand its usage in many fields such as the medical field and the architectural field; along with increasing the consistency of the structure of these models in order to better the product as a whole. For more information over this practice, feel free to check out these two links, one being information that was joined up by the group in a post, along with the other being in a slide show presentation that we used to present to the class.

Diigo: Bookmark Galore!

Welcome welcome! Today I’ll be talking about a website that was introduced to use recently, that of Diigo, an online bookmark service that lets you, not only store up links from the internet, but also make it able for you to share them based on groups you can make, along with giving brief descriptions of each one and tie them onto different tags.

Now then, on with describing, shall we?

The site was used in order to harbor in 12 links in total, 6 of the project that’s being worked on at the moment with 3D Printing, with each link leading to cites that contained good information about the technology, companies that endorse and use it, along with important steps to take when one is starting out with this subject. It’s very interesting and I heavily suggest you check it out! One the other hand, 6 were used for my own tastes and websites that I regularly visit! Feel free to check them out, it’s mainly news from stuff that I deeply enjoy. That about covers it! Now to share my link so you guys are able to check these links out. Enjoy!

Weekly Post 7: More Rainbow News! Season 2 leaks

Hey there! Alright, now we’re close to finishing up the semester and the posts coming in for this account, but don’t worry, I’ll make these last posts worth it! Alright so.. I few posts back I gave a few comments and details over Rainbow Six Siege, specifically the current season called Void Edge, talking about the new operators and the map rework of Oregon. Now.. this isn’t exactly a full info list due to these only being leaks for the next season, not exactly all confirmed so pardon if I make some mistakes in explanation or these changes don’t come.

While I spoke that most of the information is only leaks, we are confirmed over one thing, that being the rework of a famous map to the game, one that had remained the same for over 5 years, that being House. The rework for house seems to expand the rooms and try to fix the issue that the defense team had more lines of sight to the outside where they can easily kill the attackers as the come in. Now.. sadly it seems like the map won’t join into the ranked maps, but it is nice to see them try to balance the maps that were notoriously bad for most players.

All rights to Ubisoft and the original video provider

Now we move to the characters:

>Odin (A Norwegian 2-armor/2-speed Attack Operator that’s coming in the next season. Now.. I must say, reading his ability I was.. astonished to say the least. He comes with a drone that can attack to the wall and ceiling, somewhat like Echo I presume, and, get this, creates a healing AoE effect for any allies. Aside from this, he comes with recycled weapons, possibly the best Attack weapons in Jackal’s C7 AR and the famous AK-12 from Fuze. In terms of secondary weapons he comes with the 9mm and the PMM. No secondary gadgets have been revealed, although.. if I may predict, possibly he’ll have stun grenades and smoke grenade, like Dokkaebi’s load out at the moment.)

>Philisiwe (A South-African 3-armor/1-speed Defense Operator with an interesting gimmick that I must say.. Her main ability comes with a “Smart” Razor Wire that she can place on the ground, causing any gadgets such as drones to be pinged, along with causing damage to any attack coming through it; oh and you can’t brake it with melee like other razor wires used in the game. Her weapons at the moment are Lesion’s SMG with the access to an ACOG scope and Mira’s/Jackal’s primary shotgun, along with the RG15 as her only secondary option. Like Odin, her secondary gadgets have not been determined yet, but I can imagine she might come with Impact Grenades and maybe a Bulletproof camera.)
Again, all rights to Ubisoft and the video producer

Other additions:

-A new ping system was added where you’re able to ping down enemy gadgets with drones and character ping, which is nice for games where voice communication isn’t an option.
-Many changes to operators that we know of such as Doc becoming a 2 speed, losing his ACOG but acquiring Impact Grenades in return, for more information over these changes can be seen in the next video.
All rights to Ubisoft and the video provider

Alright! That’s all we know at the moment due to the season coming later down in Summer, so I do hope more information can be given while we wait for this season. I must say, these new operators seem like a lot of fun and I hope they fit well with the game, especially Odin, I’m very excited to get my hands on him. Have a good day!

Tarea 6: Proyecto Final (Parte 1: 3D Printing)

Plataformas: iOS, Android, MacOS

Precio: $ 10

  • Putty 3D: Simple Sculpting

Plataformas: iOS, Android, Windows

Precio: gratis

Weekly Post 6: (Super Smash Brothers and Challenger Pack 2)

Welcome! Today I’m going to talk about a subject that may not seem to relevant these times, but I’ll be honest it’s not easy to just post weekly with stuff that can be relevant, well.. content that isn’t controversial or political in nature, at least. Now then, before we start.. what is Smash Bros? Super Smash Brothers is a Nintendo fighting and party game series produced by Sora Unlimited and started as an idea to the developer known as Masahiro Sakurai back in the late 90s. It’s been spanned over to 5 games, from it’s first release in the Nintendo 64 in 1999 to now Smash Bros Ultimate, released in late 2018, creating a world-wide fan-base of loyal (and sometimes controversial) players, making the game of the highest grossing series Nintendo have in their gallery. One of the biggest appeals of the game is the large roster of characters spanning from Nintendo’s large gallery of games, to even surprise additions from other big game developing companies around the world. The game is regarded a sort of celebration towards games as a whole, as it contains many past and present characters in a sort of union to make a unique and fantastic fighting game.

Now then, I wished to discuss the next pack of characters that are coming to the game during the period of 2020 and 2021, with the first series already being revealed in a recent Nintendo Direct, that series being ARMS (One of Nintendo’s newest original game series that use characters with spring-like arms for fighting, along with special abilities tailored to each one.) Now.. A lot of fans have found this reveal disappointment, mainly for the lack of an actual character being confirmed, which is a bit annoying but considering the current pandemic, we ca be patient enough to wait until the character gets revealed. Thing is, this character chosen might determine the next ones to be added in the second pack, as many of the ARMS main cast is already in the game as in game assist characters, costumes for Mii Fighters and even Spirits stickers, so depending on the character shown.. they could confirmed the idea that characters already in as these different variants do have a chance to get added in. Now then I won’t try to predict the next characters, but I do have a favorite in Phoenix Wright, but I don’t mind whoever gets in, as long as it’s what Sakurai believes is for the good of the game.

Weekly Post 5: The Clone Wars (The long wait for Season 7 and how Dave Filoni might have saved the franchise )

In the current year of 2020, the Disney+ service has been going on strong, adding many old series and movies to their expansive gallery of classic Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars media, ranging from movies, series and other forms of media. But today we’ll focus on the Star Wars aspect of it, namely the award winning series from 2009, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and how it managed to be revived from cancellation and how it’s 7th and final season is developing in Disney+. The Clone Wars was a 2009 series from Lucasarts, airing on Cartoon Network for over 5 years and spanning across 5 original seasons in the channel; the series is originally based on the 2008 spin-off move of the same name, although the movie was received poorly, the series is now considered one of the best Star Wars media has to offer in terms of good story telling, character development and a series that many fans can agree is very good.

In 2014, around a year after Disney had bought the rights for Star Wars from George Lucas, the series was firmly cancelled from Cartoon Network by Disney, as a way to push away the old canon stories in order to try to tell their own stories. This soon heavily backfired as many Star Wars fans found the decision to be very poor, as the series had already grown to be such a favorite for many fans and the abrupt end made many fans feeling empty over the fate of many characters that are original to the series such as the fan favorites Ahsoka Tano, Cad Bane and Captain Rex. This soon lead to the creation of Star Wars: Rebels in late 2014 as a way to make up for the absence of The Clone Wars, even being directed by the same guy, Dave Filoni, that helped build up and co-write the original series. Rebels had an extremely rough start as the strong sense of “kid friendliness” and a lack of a solid plot during the first season put off many fans from the series, although this soon changes as the series grows into its 4 season, introducing more mature plots, old fan favorites from the Clone Wars series and even a canonical response to certain characters such as Admiral Thrawn and the creation of the Rebel Alliance faction from the Original Trilogy.

While Rebels had grown to be a fan favorite as it grew, the cancellation of Clone Wars still was apparent to many fans, with only certain novels and comics to make up for the lack of a proper final season for the show. But in 2018, a trailer was shown and revealed the active production of another season being made for the Clone Wars series, being said to be the final one before the events of Revenge of the Sith. Many fans rejoiced as many stories that were written and developed throughout the years will finally be animated properly, along with having a sense of completion towards the beloved series; later down the 2 year long wait for the first episodes, a lot of hype was built up and in January 22, 2020, the first episodes aired with the “Bad Batch” arc, bringing in older fans in rejoice and newer fans to see what the hype was all about. Currently the series is still on going and growing in popularity within the new fan-base, and more episodes are still in the way. I made this post to clarify both my love for Star Wars and this series, along with how much I can appreciate Dave Filoni and his efforts to bring back what many fans would consider the saving grace of the franchise after the many bumps it has taken with the Sequel Trilogy; point is, I can admire how much a series can play into the hearts of fans and how such a strong demand of a good ending can take a series which was believed to never come back, to be brought up and keep on going, without missing a single beat.

Weekly Post 4: Animal Crossing New Horizons (A Small Review)

Hey there! It’s me again back with another weekly post about info that I’ve gotten recently throughout the week, although today I bring you a small review and information over Animal Crossing’s new title in New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch. Animal Crossing is a slice of life game series that first spawn with it’s first title “Animal Crossing” for the GameCube back in 2004, although for Japan it had come out in 2001 for the Nintendo 64 console, how neat! Anyways, the growth of the series as one of Nintendo’s most profitable series is very apparent, with 7 main games and 2 spin-offs under it’s belt. The game is mainly famous for it’s calm and endearing nature, one that doesn’t feel too kiddish but still keeps the aura of innocence and cuteness to charm people into enjoy the characters, the setting and the atmosphere. New Horizons, announced all the way back in September of 2018 alongside the inclusion of the game’s famed secretary, Isabelle, into Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, has finally gotten released in early March of 2020 after it’s delay from the original 2019 release. It has turned out to be a big success, with almost billions of copies sold world-wide, even spawning a meme that it seems to be the best thing in 2020 so far, keeping it’s light heated and endearing nature to appeal to the wider audience.

With each new addition, some changes to the atmosphere and settings are given to make every game a different experience to play through, with New Horizons going for an island adventure sort of feel. In this title, you take a vacation of sorts to a “deserted island” that’s sponsored by the Nook foundation, mainly by the Nook family of Tom, Timmy and Tommy, and your main goal is to live and build up your settlement up from a group of tents to a small village with houses and such. Along with this, there is also online play in that other villagers are able to visit other islands, get visitors themselves and interact directly with others with the in-game chat, another new feature that has grown in popularity is the design creator, where you’re able to build up designs from the ground up for pieces of clothing, and being able to give them to other players and let them use them as well.

All in all, while I haven’t gotten too far in the game due to my lack of free time with college work, it’s still nice to go back into and check on my island to see how much it has produced. It’s definitely a great game to try out if you enjoy the type of games that take their time to build up and those that enjoy to exploring a bit, as the islands, while small, are still nice to visit around and change up as well to the person’s pleasure. It’s a definite 9/10 for me, a pleasure to play and perfect for someone stuck in quarantine, hopefully I’ll be able to focus more on the game soon, at least before summer kicks in, now then, thank you for your time and have a wonderful day!

Lack of Privacy: How the internet and social media has breached it

As we all know, the internet has its benefits when it comes to acquiring data for certain topics, expressing yourself towards the world at large and to talk to people from across the globe, whether it would be same country but different cities, or foreign people from other parts of the world. But with this comes an aspect of the internet in which people have greatly criticized as an “inhumane” action towards one’s rights as a citizen of a country that has been stated as “free”, this issue is the breach of privacy that is apparent in the internet itself and how it has grown paranoia in people when it comes to sharing personal information such as credit card numbers for online shopping, your address for mailing companies or even just to see your hobbies and preferences by taking in reference from friends or people you follow on social media.

Monitoring your usage of the internet

Whenever we look up things on certain browsers we’ve used a lot we always seem to get options towards previous subjects we’ve looked up, unless you use incognito mode, or of certain topics that seem to be relevant towards one’s region/country. With this we can see that these browsers can store up data of past searches through simply taking a peak at your history in the device and/or of your account tied to that browser, such as how Google Chrome uses your gmail to sync up information from all the devices that have this account synced to. This is the same to social media, as normally they can use the tracked information to let you know of certain trends or even people that could share the same interests in the recommended list they tend to give out to their users.

Now, this might seem a bit harmless on paper, simply them taking in consideration your interests and such, and trying to find the ideal people for you to share a conversation with. However, the fact that the browser still takes in the information that was being searched for and even things like passwords are taken into account, it can cause some issues as it has been revealed that very popular browsers such as Google, Yahoo! and etc. store up this information and it can be used in a negative way. Such as when hackers or people inside the company in the higher ups can have access to this personal information of yours.

Along with these issues, one that is heavily present and can also create a lot of tension for these companies alongside what was already established was how it could monitor your movements, as in any, yes, any location that the internet is accessible to, that’s just freaky. One thing to also take note is that most of these browsers also take in information you you may think is long gone, such as deleted links, images that may have been downloaded and even just everything done in incognito mode, although it does make you believe otherwise. Certain apps and programs can also have access directly into your camera and microphone, where even information that you never intended to put on your phone can end up on. All in all, anything that can be put into the internet will always be there, somewhere, mainly inside the information archives of these big software companies, alongside even things that are simple as locations and links you’ve visited before; just remember to be careful with what’s shared and what isn’t over the internet, you’re always being monitored one way or another but can always try to check what got monitored or not using certain options such as the My Activity option that Google gives to let you know of any actions made inside your account and so forth.

My two most used sites and their credibility

Now then, another topic that I wish to share with this post is how you can easily monitor certain websites and see where exactly their sources come from. This can be used to see how validated certain cites are and how they can acquire the information they’re trying to share to the internet. One of these programs which I have found major success with is Disconnect.me, a handy application from the Google Chrome store that adds in an extension where you’re able to register the current website on your screen and determine what sources this cite uses to convey the information given or even where most of the information they find is originated from. From this, I will explain two of my most frequent cites and how this tool can be used by my part to see the sources and any other small additions given to the page itself from others:

YouTube
We all know YouTube and how much it has influenced over the idea of sharing information, ideas and other things towards the internet, where many people have found many uses from perhaps a tutorial for certain activities, helping to share ideas and even to just find a nice video to feel better for one’s self. Now then, using Disconnect.me, I was able to find quite a few things that are tied to the main page of YouTube, as you will see. Of course the main branch would mainly be from Google as the company had bought YouTube during it’s early days to expanded their enterprise, along with smaller branches of Google such as the ads that comes with the YouTube service, or the simple doubleclick.net, which.. I mean, if you’re using the internet and not know about the double click thing, it’ll be quite surprising.

Fire Emblem Wikipedia
Now then, Fire Emblem is one of my favorites Nintendo franchises out there, with now a 16 games lineup and still growing in strength, especially in recent times due to the major success of recent releases such as Fire Emblem Awakening (2012) to Fire Emblem Three Houses (2019). Now then, with that out of the way, like many other franchises, Fire Emblem has a Wikipedia site dedicated for simply information of the franchise and anything related to lore, stat lines or even just small trivia if needed be, and I use it a lot mainly to look up certain art pieces, stat lines or even to just read up on things I have still yet to understand, even after playing all 16 games in the franchise. Now then, onto the information given, we can find up to 32 other links that branch out of the main page, although some are hard to make out due to the crossed out aspect of it, the main ones seem to be wikia, which makes sense due to it be a subbranch of Wikipedia itself, although many sources are also of original Japanese sites where a lot of information of both Western and non-Western released Fire Emblem games come from, mainly from Intelligent Systems themselves.

My thoughts

Overall, one should always stay safe with the information given out to the internet, you never know if it’ll be used for the wrong reasons against you and it’s understandable to have a lot of paranoia, although.. I will say, I believe it’s not a bad practice, it’s understandable there are certain breaches that are necessary to ensure the security of people, and I do have some faith in some of these big companies that have done everything to keep their services hacker-free, although I can’t lie some do slip from time to time, but still I think it’s not that bad considering it’s a price to pay to ensure the safety of people and society as a whole, but of course there’s always a line when it comes to one’s privacy and that must be respected, so hopefully these companies believe in this respect, especially when it’s something that isn’t exactly bad. And of course do try out Disconnect.me to check out and try out this extension to help check out the sources of certain cites, what smaller aspects they use to present themselves and to prove the legitimacy of these sites when it comes to information gathering/sharing. Now, with all that out of the way, please, have a lovely day.
